Holloway
Named to National Board of American Institute of Architects
January 2003 - William
E. Holloway has been elected to the board of directors of the
American Institute of Architects (AIA), representing some 70,000
licensed architects and allied professionals.
A principal of Bernardon Haber Holloway Architects PC located
in Kennett Square, PA and Wilmington, DE, Holloway is one of
two directors elected from the Middle Atlantic Region to serve
a three-year term with this prestigious national association,
which has represented the professional interests of licensed
architects and allied professionals since 1857. Currently there
are 48 members who serve on AIA's national board.
As director, Holloway will represent some 2,800 members from
Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He will work
to advance the value of professionalism in architecture, foster
ethical standards and shape legislative and regulatory decisions
affecting the profession in general and the region in particular.
"AIA is a vital watchdog for the profession and provides a collective
voice for legislative activism, two interests that have long
been a passion of mine," said Holloway. "This new leadership
role enables me to help promote the high ethical standards of
our profession as well as keep ahead of current trends that
will affect our clients."
Service to both his profession and the community are priorities
for Holloway. He has served as secretary of AIA's Middle Atlantic
Regional Council for three years, government affairs director
of the Delaware Chapter of the AIA and on the jury for the Institute's
Honor Awards for Regional and Urban Design. Locally he is former
vice chairman of the Board of Supervisors in Pennsbury Township,
PA and serves on the Governor's Task Force for Livable Delaware,
Infill and Redevelopment Subcommittee.
