This session discusses The Role of Designers in Shifting the Discussion from Gentrification to Poverty. Why isn’t poverty more frequently considered when discussing gentrification? Poverty is often the pre-existing condition of gentrification, and poverty is often displaced as a result of gentrification. Is there a way for designers and planners to deliver projects without exacerbating poverty?
